Can I blog on my website?

Yes, the Content Management System on our websites supports blogging. Designate any particular page on your website to be a blog, and you will see a blog/calendar feature on it. This allows you to create multiple text entries for different dates.

In a nutshell, a blog is like a diary in which you write things on an ongoing basis, and on a website you are sharing the information you write with others. Whether you blog on your own website or on other websites such as Facebook or Twitter, blogging is a very effective way of networking and getting your message out there.

Blogs have reshaped the web, impacted politics, shaken up journalism, and enabled millions of people to have a voice and connect with others. Your blog is whatever you want it to be. There are millions of them, in all shapes and sizes, and there are no real rules.

By blogging on your website, your visitors can read what's new and comment back to you. One of the benefits of blogging is to inform your customers of any changes, new products, latest offers and much more. The more a customer hears your name, the greater the chances of remembering it.

Blogging is a particularly beneficial form of online marketing, and your blog offers the opportunity to promote your website for hundreds or even thousands of different keywords. Search engines particularly like promoting blogs because they offer a large amount of content that is updated and added to on a regular basis.

Regular content is imperative to the success of any blog. This content needs to be informative, accurate, and written in a way that will appeal to your visitors. Every blog demands different content and by producing the right content on a regular basis it will pay dividends.

When blogging on other websites, you should try to find an opportunity to link to at least one page on your own website.

How to Set Up a Blog

In Anuko CMS web pages can be of the following types:
  • Regular web page.
  • News page. When page is set up as news it gets additional user-definable attributes such as news date and headline. The headline gets displayed in the news column and the information is aggregated into an RSS news feed.
  • Photo-gallery. Such pages display images with annotations, which are organized in a gallery with a navigation bar.
  • Blog. This is the page type you need for blogging.
So, to set up any page as a blog simply set its type to blog.

So, what exactly is a blog and how is it different from a regular web page? Blog pages have a calendar on them. It allows you to enter multiple entries for different dates. A blog can also have a header, which is a common block of text to display on all blog pages.

Therefore, a blog page is like a normal page but can have multiple instances, each with a different timestamp and different content with one common text area from the header.

Setting Blog Header

To define blog header simply type something in the "Header" area. This information is shared between all pages in your blog. It will stay on top of each entry.

Creating Entries

To create an entry for a particular date:
  • Start editing your blog.
  • In calendar, click on a date your entry is for.
  • Type in content in the large text area and save the page.

To keep your blog attractive you'll need to have pictures in your content. Insert images into blog pages exactly in the same manner as in regular pages.

Editing Entries

To edit an entry start editing your blog and use the calendar to navigate to a date your entry is on. Existing content will be displayed in the text area. Just edit it and save your changes.

Deleting Entries

  • Start editing your blog.
  • In calendar, click on a date your entry is for.
  • Click on the Delete button.

Keep in mind that if you choose to delete an entry, it will be deleted permanently, so think carefully before doing this or you will simply need to type it in again.
