How to set up shipping options on Paypal

28 August 2009

If you have an e-shop using Paypal, first make sure you sign up for a Paypal account using their Business Account type option as this will give you shipping options.

Your Paypal login will be your email address as this is the email address Paypal will use to contact you when someone purchases from you.

Then you need to login to your PayPal account and define delivery prices.

Here is an example how to do this:

Delivery cost 4.50 NZD for price range 0.01 - 49.99 NZD
Delivery cost 0 NZD for price range 50.00 - and up

This will get you a 4.50 NZD flat delivery charge for all items up to 49.99 NZD total in value, 0 for purchases more than 50 NZD.

Note that the shopping cart used with PayPal does not allow you to define separate delivery areas and prices like our store without a shopping cart, so you must go with a flat fee delivery price for both North and South Islands.

We recommend adding something like that to your product descriptions on your website, for example as:

"Postage throughout New Zealand is FREE for purchases over 50 NZD, 4.50 NZD for purchases less than 50 NZD.

If ordering from Australia or overseas, please contact us to find out postage.

You SAVE on postage, the more you buy!"

Hope this helps anyone as yet unfamilar with Paypal.
