Page titles are very important
Page title is a box on the page edit screen. It's like the title of the page - what this page is about - VERY IMPORTANT for search engines.
What is a web page title?
If you look at the top of your browser window right now, above the address bar and the menus, you will see “Amethyst Sky: Web Page Titles” . That is the page title of this page.
See below where you should indicate page titles:
Sometimes people create a generic title while working on their website’s template — their website’s name, for example — and then re-use the same title across the whole website. This is
wrong because it robs each page of a couple of key benefits. Please USE proper page titles as they are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for the search engines. Use relevant keywords there please. Search engines need different information to rank the results of a particular query. Page title is one of the more important pieces of information they use to gauge how relevant your page is to a particular search term.
Page title doesn’t just show at the top of the browser window; it’s also shown on the search engine results pages. When people see a list of results on a search engine like Google, they read the page title to figure out what each page is about.
Keep your page titles to less than 64 characters:
On their results pages, most search engines use a page's title tag as the first line in a site's description. Typically, Google truncates titles somewhere between character 63 and 67 (including spaces). In other words, any characters beyond that limit don't appear on the blue, linked title of your search description. Instead, Google replaces remaining characters with ellipses (...).
Use separators instead of words like “and” or “also”.
Search engines ignore widely used words like “and”, “a”, “the”…etc. These ignored words are called stop words. Instead of stop words, use separators like “-” or “|”. This will save you title space and allow you to put more information into your title if needed.
