SUBMITTING TO THE SEARCH ENGINES
Google provides an
ADD URL that lets you submit a URL directly to its crawler. It makes sense to submit your page and perhaps one or two other URLs from "inside" your web site (http addresses of your different pages) via the "Add URL" page.
In addition to the ADD URL page, Google offers other options to submit a large list of URLs (a sitemap file) and verify ownership of your site within
GOOGLE WEBMASTER CENTRAL for faster indexing, free of charge.
GOOGLE ANALYTICS shows you which sites, search engines, and keywords refer your traffic and how visitors interact with your site.
Yahoo. As with Google, building links is the best way to get listed for free in Yahoo. Yahoo also offers a free
URL SUBMISSION FORM.
The
OPEN DIRECTORY PROJECT also known as ODP or DMOZ is a volunteer-built guide to the web. It is provided as an option at many major search engines, including Google. Given this, being listed with the Open Directory can add value to any site.
Submission is free. To submit, locate the category you want to be listed in. Then use the "add URL" link that appears at the top of the category page. Fill out the form, and that's it - you've submitted.
If you are accepted, you should see your site appear within about three weeks. If this doesn't happen, then you should resubmit.
